When a good night’s sleep remains a dream

Getting a good night’s important to feel rested and alert during the day. When we sleep our bodies rest and restore energy levels. However, sleep is an active state that affects both our physical and mental well-being. A good night is often the best way to help a person cope with stress, solve problems and achieve full recovery from illness. But with all the pressures of everyday life, not everyone can afford to have the required eight hours of sleep. Eight hours of uninterrupted sleep is what the average adult needs to maintain mental and physical health is optimal.

Dream caused by natural cycles of activity in the brain and consists of two basic states: rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and non-REM (NREM), consists of stages 1-4. During sleep, the body cycles between non-REM and REM. Usually, people start the sleep cycle in a period of non-REM sleep followed by a very short period of REM sleep. These dreams usually occur in REM sleep.

According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, more than 40,000,000 Americans each year suffer from some type of sleep disorder. Many of them are undiagnosed, or resort to counter sleep aid remedy. While insomnia is the most popular sleep disorder, more than 100 types of sleep disorders actually exist. To get the right diagnosis, right? It’s important to understand the symptoms and causes of the most common form of each of the sleep problems that also include sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome (RLS) and narcolepsy.

Insomnia is a frequent symptom of other problems. Typical pattern of insomnia include difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep at night, wake up earlier than usual, and fatigue during the day. Most people with insomnia, even falling asleep in inappropriate situations, such as while driving. If this occurs, can signal medical problems (such as sleep apnea) is a cause of insomnia.

Excessive daytime drowsiness is the primary symptom of sleep apnea. Some people refuse to sleep but still tired during the day. Other symptoms of sleep apnea include snoring, snorting, wheezing and voice when you sleep. More often first noticed by bed partners. Restless sleep are also common, such as headache in the morning.

The main warning sign of restless legs syndrome or RLS is an irresistible urge to move the legs immediately after climbing into bed at midnight, wake up, or even when awake during the day. Feelings of discomfort can vary widely. Kicking or jerking leg movements during sleep and sometimes during wakefulness, may be warning signs.

Excessive sleepiness during the day, relieved by napping, is a symptom of narcolepsy. Dreaming during sleep and dream experience hallucinations during sleep are also warning signs. Loss of muscle control called cataplexy is produced by emotion, such as laughter or anger, and inability to move during sleep or when one is awakened (so-called sleep paralysis) are also symptoms.

To determine whether a person has a sleep disorder, first pay attention to sleep habits of living a human or other daily activities. If a person with sleep disorders intended to visit the doctor, it is useful to record the sleep habits. History of sleep will help the patient and doctor determine the cause of sleep problems. A person with sleep disorders can overcome the most common sleep problems through lifestyle changes and improving sleep hygiene, but it is important to see a doctor or sleep specialist to assess whether sleep did not improve.
